The Water Wych has been used since 1993 and has proven to be safe with all fish, amphibians, plants and other animal life.

How soon will the Water Wych work?
The Water Wych starts to work immediately in the water, but you should see a noticeable difference within 2 weeks and within 4 weeks the water should be crystal clear as long as you have followed the instructions and your water is below pH8.

What size of Water Wych will be best for me?
If you have a fountain, we make two sizes, the Micro Fountain for up to 20 gallons and the Fountain Wych for larger fountains and water features up to 150 gallons. For ponds we have 4 different sizes:- The mini for up to 840 gallons, the small for up to 1800 gallons, the medium for up to 3600 gallons and the large for up to 8400 gallons. For troughs and large holding tanks we suggest the mini for up to 400 gallons and the small for up to 900 gallons. You can always increase the size of the Water Wych for your particular needs, as you cannot over treat the water with our product you will then have a unit that will work faster and longer.

Can I use two Water Wych's in my pond or trough instead of one?
Yes, you can put one at each end of the pond or trough for greater efficiency.

Will the Water Wych work without a pump or filtration?
The Water Wych was designed for ponds without pumps or filters. If you have an existing pump or filter in your pond then you will find the Water Wych will improve their efficiency and the results will be faster.

Is the Water Wych cheaper to use then chemicals?
As the Water Wych generally lasts a year or longer in most situations then over the period of that year, yes the Water Wych is cheaper. It is also far more environmentally friendly than chemical use.

Is the Water Wych harmful to any fish including babies?
No the Water Wych is totally safe with all freshwater fish and pond inhabitants. It actually improves the water quality so the fish are healthier and have more of their natural food supply.

Will the Water Wych taint the water for my troughs?
No the Water Wych actually improves the water quality and purifies the water so the animals drinking from the trough will have clear clean water with no tainting.

What makes the Water Wych work?
To tell the truth we don't really know. All we can tell you is the Water Wych was put together by ourselves over many years to work in ponds and naturally remove the algae without harm to any fish, plant or animal. We tried many different combinations and finally came up with the one that worked. The Water Wych works very much like a water purifier does on your tap but without the water running through it. It purifies the water and removes the elements that make algae grow. As an organic water plant nursery we needed a product that fell in line with our ideals, the Water Wych is made from a combination of volanic rocks, carbons and silicates and with the packaging as an essential part of the product, it works.

Is there anything that will stop the Water Wych from working?
The only way the Water Wych will not work is if the water hardness is above pH8. Please see the Vinegar Treatment page for the natural answer to this problem.

What causes algae?
Algae is one of the first forms of life in water, it is created from natural gases and nutrients. Blue/Green algae is in many forms, tow of the most common are suspended algae - the green water or pea soup algae and filimentatious algae - the string algae or blanket weed. To remove the algae permenantly from the water one or more of the elements that create it have to be removed. The Water Wych does this by removing and holding those nutrients inside and making them unavailable to the algae.

Where does algae come from?
Algae is formed from carbon dioxide, nitrogen, phosphates and sunlight. The carbon dioxide is a by product of life in the water, phosphates and nitrogen are also a by product but can also be intorduced in the water by birds, heavy rain and dead and decaying plant life. If you can remove one or more of the elements of algae then it stops the growth. The Water Wych does this by absorbing and holding the excess nitrogen and phosphates that plants do not need in the water, therefore starving the algae and removing it from the water.

Will the Water Wych remove staining?
Yes the Water Wych has been proven to remove peat staining from water and also other staining caused from dyes in water.

Will the Water Wych work with my existing filter?
Yes the Water Wych will work with all filters in the pond (bio, mechanical and UV). The Water Wych will improve the efficiency of all filters and also remove the string algae that other filters cannot remove.

Will the Water Wych remove Chlorine from the Water?
Yes, the Water Wych will remove all manufactured chemicals found in the water so if you need to treat your pond with chemicals, remove the Water Wych first and then replace when the treatment is over.

Can I use the Water Wych while using treatments in my pond?
No. Remove the Water Wych before treating the pond, once treatment is over then you can safely replace the Water Wych.

Can I use the Water Wych in my large farm pond?
If your pond has a pvc or rubber liner or is lined with concrete then yes you can use the Water Wych and it will work successfully, but if you have a 'natural' pond (a soil based and sided pond) then we do not suggest this as the pond is naturally getting nutrients from the soil and it will wear the absorbability of the Water Wych out very quickly.
